GG is here for a week-end visit, and Joey was so excited as we put her bed together.

Did I say Spring?

Guess I jinxed things.

That thing they're looking out to see?  Snow.  35 degrees and snow.  On March 15.  In the desert.

Poor Joey & Belle have been fighting colds for weeks.  On and off, with pink-eye and without.  Today was an on day, with sniffles and coughs, but they've kept their spirits up for the most part.

The other day I asked Joey if he was sick.

"I sure am, Dad.  I sure am sick.  I need some medicine to make me all better."

Today, Belle seemed to have it worse than Joey, so he pulled out his doctor bag and went to work.

If only I had charged the battery on the video camera!

Spring is coming soon...

It's been a long, busy, fun winter.  Belle just turned 18 months old the other day, and she is learning new words every day.  A couple days ago she got her second haircut and told the barber "Stop it!"  Who knew she knew how to say that?!

Joey has been busy playing with his Thomas trains -- the little ones, the riding one, and the one on the computer.  And he's potty training.  It looked like it was going to go well in the first few days, but some days he forgets to tell us when he's ready, and, well, that's when the hazmat team has to come in.

Today was a beautiful, warm day, and I'm hoping spring comes sooner than later.  The kids have had to bundle up when playing outside, and it will be great when they won't have to worry about jackets.  And they won't have to wear their warm hats, either.

Here we go again?

It seems as if the whole state is on fire.  We thought we had our share (or scare) earlier this year, but it seems another one could be on its way.  There are two fires burning in the San Bernardino mountains at this moment.  The one that looks to be the most threatening is the Slide Fire, burning between Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear.  During the day we could just see the smoke, but then the sun started to set, and we could see the flames.  This video was taken from the backyard.

 

We'll be keeping a close eye on this one, and lets hope we don't have to go through evacuation drill number three!

Update: The fires were contained and never got any closer than the video above.  *whew!*

Belle's first haircut

We took Belle in this past weekend to get her first haircut.  We were lucky enough to find a place that specializes in kids' haircuts, so they had toys and things to keep both her and Joey busy.  Joey felt right at home playing on the train table while Kelly collected hair samples and I took photos.

Summer Recap

Well, we had a very full summer.  Since Cousin Al's visit, we've been to Disneyland (first time for both Joey & Belle), Belle turned one, Kelly turned thirty-something, the SloTram wedding took place (and the honeymoon), Aunt Shana launched her dream of becoming an entrepreneur, and Belle started walking.

Now a good dad might actually have photos of all these events.  I'm just an OK dad, so here's a picture of Belle taken on her birthday. :-)

Al the Only!

Cousin Al (a.k.a. Al the Only) stopped by to visit us in June.  It was the first time Kelly & I had seen him since he was nice enough to perform for our wedding rehearsal dinner.  So just about 4 years later, he was in the area and came by to see the family. 

It's always great to see Al, especially for me.  It gives me a chance to see what I'll look like in a few years.
